Nearly February and hoping for Spring
Hello...

Well, here it is the end of January, and winter is almost over. Soon it will be spring again, and we will be back to having gloriously warm days. I do so love the warm weather, and I don't understand how the people in the northern part of the US have survived this past winter.

I am making great progress on my afghan that I am knitting. Elizabeth (my neighbor) and I have spent a lot of time on the cooler days just knitting and talking. Probably more talking than knitting, as you well can imagine.

I have lived next to this wonderful lady for years, and never really got to know her. And now she knows me much better as well. We are both enjoying the companionship.

King and Bennie... those two are about the best entertainment in the world. Elizabeth and I will sit outside during the warmer days and just watch the two of them play in the back yard. Bennie has the advantage, by far, since he can fly up and away, but King is a sly rascal. He pretends he's asleep, or ignoring Bennie, until Bennie gets bold enough to perch on King's head. Then King tries to catch Bennie. So far he hasn't succeeded, but he has come close!

Or King will leave small scraps of food uneaten until Bennie decides to investigate, and then there is a stand-off, with King growling, and Bennie hopping around the food, trying to eat, and keep an eye on King at the same time. King walks circles around Bennie and the food, so Bennie has to constantly keep moving to watch King. I'm reasonably sure it's all in fun. And it provides Elizabeth and me a lot of amusement.

It's a beautiful night, although rather chilly. It's nights like these that I allow King to sleep on the bed with me, so that both of us can stay a bit warmer. And it's comforting to have a warm body in bed next to me, especially on the nights I am missing my husband. King was such a wonderful gift. He has brought me so much love, not just his, but Elizabeth's, too.
